Major House Remodel

This one isn't going to be a story post. Over the course of multiple hours stretched between two days, Michelle and I have deleted the premade house I'd installed on the lot, and we have put in a new one we built ourselves. Now when I say we built, really, she built the house itself. I did the deco to turn it into a home. She also doubles as the landscaper. Here are several pictures, starting with the house this was inspired by.

Alright, so this one was our inspiration, from dreamhomesource.com. It's called English Cottage. We particularly liked the tower room in the center.

Here's the finished house in game. Sorry for the darkness of the picture. It's raining. We added a fountain in the front to fill up the empty paved area. Went for a two car garage instead of three due to the way the game spaces doors.

Crisis of the Midlife Kind

Not everything was kittens, rainbows and sunshine for Fenris. He found himself getting older, and less and less satisfied with the strange and fantastic -everything- that surrounded his life. While he loved his new bride dearly, more than once he caught her her making moves on his father, who did absolutely nothing to discourage the behavior. Loki of course just grinned, knowing he was irresistible, and enjoyed the attention. They even came to blows over the situation. Unfortunately, nothing would change.
Fenris spent his time away at work, while his new wife Berthe rested at home, heavy with child, and of course with Loki, who had finally retired from leading the so called free world to anticipate the arrival of his newest grandchild. At long last, a new little girl came into the world, and she carried in her the power of the bloodline. Berthe insisted that her name be Adelaide. Still, with Fenris frustrated, and Berthe focused on getting back into shape for work, it was Loki who stayed up late with the baby, and kept her taken care of.

And then Fenris just got tired of -everything-. First thing that happened, he quit his job with SHIELD, exhausted by cleaning up one mess after another left by the latest series of crazy villains of varying skill and motivation. Up for something completely different and personally gratifying, he went into acting, where his family name quickly got him into meetings with the right people. They hired him, under the condition that he start dressing like he can afford new clothes, so his next stop was a makeover.

He went with something a little more rugged, and did away with the hipster glasses and scraggly bedhead he'd been sporting since college. The family even managed to spend an awkward evening watching a movie together, but the peace was not to last.

After walking in on his lovely French bride giving his father a massage, Fenris decided he'd had enough, and he broke off the marriage. After she was gone, he threw himself into his new job, but even that was empty. He needed to get away, just for a little while. So he said goodbye to Addy, and packed his bags.

He would go somewhere new this time, somewhere he'd never been, away from luxury, and the big city, and maybe even the reach of his family name. Fenris flew to Egypt. Even managed a couple nice pictures while he was there.

When he returned, his father and daughter were both there to welcome him home. He felt tired, and drained, but ready to start again. He spent as much time as he could with little Adelaide, but during the daytime, it was Grampa Loki that would be the one she came to rely on.

Wedding Bells All Around

A proper memorial was built to Kriss, at at her head, a Tree of Prosperity was planted, seeded by a magic crystal said to come from the heart of a distant moon. Slowly, life in the Odinson household returned to as normal as 'humanly' possible. The town grew even closer to the arts, building a film studio, a dance academy, and an art gallery dedicated to teaching the secrets of working with glass. One by one, Loki's children started looking to begin families of their own.

No one was surprised that Hel was the first to find someone. She wed a man named Tobias, a wizard she'd met through work. The pair immediately started popping out children.

Next was Sigyn, who opted for a quick elopement to escape the pressures of having to plan a wedding party. She found herself with a vampire named Girbits. Strangely, she was the only one who actually liked him, and Loki could only hope that he wasn't allowed to name the kids.

Fenris, however was a bit more complicated as it came to finding someone suitable to wed. He traveled a great deal, not just for his job, but for his own enjoyment, drawn by far off dangerous places filled with shiny baubles from another age. He tried dating his work partner, but came home from a trip overseas to find her seeing someone else behind his back. She had even gone so far as to start flirting with his father.

Furious, Fenris left the country again almost immediately, breaking it off with his partner on his way to the airport. This time, he went to France. Here he was introduced to the fine art that is nectar, and it was here that he met Berthe. Berthe worked at the Nectary in Champs Le Sims, and she knew nearly all there was about the pressing of fruits into delicious nectar. She also knew a broken heart when she saw one.

A good soul, she reached out to Fenris, and they immediately hit it off. After he'd returned home, he invited her to come with, and soon, more wedding bells rang in the Odinson home. The heir had found his bride.

Dearest Kriss

One day, Loki offered her a potion he'd brewed, one that would restore her youth, and keep her next to him as all the years passed. Kriss refused it. She was happy with one life, a blissful life with him, and their family, and then she could go to whatever afterlife there might be with peace and love in her heart. While he was sorely tempted to press the issue, in the end Loki loved her enough to abide by her wishes.

It was only a matter of time before she would meet her end, and when the time came, she shook the hand of the reaper and went with the smile of a life well lived.

He laid her to rest in the garden, where so much of her work had gone. Planted near her stone he brought back crystal flowers from the future, and charged them with love, kindness, and laughter. Still, he missed her.

Days passed with him sitting at the desk, or standing and staring at her picture. The kids kept up the house and grieved together while Loki mourned alone, but some things are more powerful than even death.

Maybe it's that his heart kept calling for her, or that she couldn't stand to see him weep. Maybe she was sent back, to prevent what Loki might become if left too long on his own with the pain of his loss.

With the help of Kriss, yet again, Loki would remember that he was not alone.

And So It Goes

And so the years went by, and while the young god would never describe himself as contented or satisfied, what he was, was happy. Kriss gave him three beautiful children, and all of herself. Even as her body aged, she was thoroughly loved, and Loki was more than happy to ease the pains of a body not built to last.

As such, things mostly continued as normal in the Odinson household. Children grew and learned, and the paparazzi occasionally suffered when they were more obnoxious than usual.

Loki found himself to be a surprisingly patient tutor, not that his brilliant heir needed a lot of patience.

Kriss, the kind soul that she is, even helped the paparazzi outside when they... spontaneously burst into flames. Totally spontaneous.

The siblings really bonded when they attended college together. Rather than tolerate the horrors of dorm life, they trio pitched in an rented a house for the two terms it took them to get their degrees. They didn't really meet anyone else during that time, but they finally managed to be a close knit little family among themselves.

It started with a game of Foosball. Later, they would learn to play pool. Hel even figured out the washing machine and Sigyn learned to cook. Fenris kept the place in good repair, fixing any of the appliances that would break down from use. Between the three of them, they all took care of each other, and soon they were doing workouts together, or coming home from a long day of classes to shake it to the music and talk about what they'd do when they all got home.

Hel came home with a degree in Fine Arts, determined to take the artistic world by storm. Her name was so big in the art world that she was immediately hired as an art appraiser. Sigyn got her degree in Physical Education, and went straight into professional athletics. Fenris didn't have dreams of a career. What he wanted to do was travel. As such, he chose a career in law enforcement, laboring away to reach a position that would give him opportunities all over the world. To further this, he got his degree in Technology, and upon returning home, flew immediately to China to celebrate.
